I am often asked, "How long does it take to make a painting?". It's a great question and the long and short answer is "Years" because it's a process. Each painting becomes a record of time and a product of education and years of practice. It begins with building the stretcher, stretching the canvas and preparing the surface before the real work begins.  Most of my paintings are made in my home studio in Kennebunkport where I also have a wood shop and storage. I often have an idea about how I want to use color or how I want the land to look, but use experience, intuition and imagination to develop the final work.
