Encaustic Landscape Paintings are framed in a dark gray shadowbox.

Encaustic painting is a process where beeswax, pigment and damar resin are heated and applied to a rigid surface in layers. Each layer is fused using heat. The process yields interesting textures that are unique to this technique. Encaustic painting means “to burn” and is an ancient technique that can be found throughout history and was common in ancient Roman and Greek painting.
